About the Division
The Skill and Industrial Engagement Division focuses on strengthening the connection between education, practical skills, professional environments, and employment opportunities. It seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world practice by connecting students, young professionals, researchers, and community members with industries, enterprises, startups, professional organisations, training institutions, and practitioners. The Division provides opportunities for skill development, vocational education and training, internships, apprenticeships, career-oriented programmes, industry interaction, workshops, and experiential learning. Key areas include Employability and Career Development, Technical and Transferable Skills, Digital Literacy, Professional Development, Industry-Academia Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Reskilling and Upskilling, Emerging Technologies, Industry 4.0, and Future-of-Work Trends. Particular emphasis is placed on developing communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, digital competencies, professional conduct, and other skills relevant to contemporary workplaces. The Division also facilitates interaction with industry experts, entrepreneurs, and practitioners through guest lectures, mentoring, field visits, internships, professional training, and collaborative programmes. Entrepreneurship and self-employment are also encouraged through engagement with startups, MSMEs, incubators, enterprises, and entrepreneurs, supporting innovation and enterprise development. Where appropriate, the Division may facilitate certification-oriented training and specialised capacity-building programmes in collaboration with qualified institutions and industry partners. Through these initiatives, the Division aims to create meaningful connections between education, skills, industry, entrepreneurship, and employment, enabling participants to develop practical competence, workplace exposure, professional confidence, and career readiness.
