““Driving Growth, Sustaining Futures.””

About the Division

The Economic & Sustainable Development Division focuses on the interconnected dimensions of economic development, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and long-term societal well-being. It promotes research, policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and practical initiatives addressing development challenges affecting communities, regions, and society. The Division adopts an integrated approach that views development beyond economic growth, incorporating employment, infrastructure, innovation, investment, resource management, environmental protection, climate resilience, inclusiveness, and quality of life. It provides a platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, development practitioners, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, environmental experts, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders to engage with contemporary development issues. Key areas include Economic Development, Development Economics, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Sustainable Development, Green Innovation, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Climate Resilience, Environmental Sustainability, Responsible Resource Management, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Communities. Particular emphasis is placed on local and regional development, examining how economic opportunities, infrastructure, public services, technology, and environmental conditions shape community development and regional growth. The Division also explores emerging approaches to sustainable development and seeks to connect global sustainability frameworks with local realities. Through research, field studies, seminars, workshops, policy discussions, and collaborative initiatives, it encourages development approaches that create economic opportunities, promote social inclusion, reduce environmental pressures, and strengthen community resilience for the future.
