"Building Better Communities Together, Empowering Citizens, and Transforming Society"
About the Division
The Civic Development Division is committed to advancing effective governance, public administration, and sustainable community development through research, policy analysis, and public engagement. The division examines the institutions, policies, and practices that shape local governance and public service delivery while promoting civic participation, democratic values, and inclusive development. Recognising that sustainable development depends upon informed citizens and accountable institutions, the division undertakes research on urban and rural development, disaster risk reduction, civic education, youth leadership, community resilience, and civic technology. It seeks to generate practical solutions that improve governance, strengthen public institutions, and enhance citizen participation in decision-making processes. The division works collaboratively with government agencies, local authorities, educational institutions, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders to translate research into meaningful social impact. Through capacity-building programmes, policy dialogues, field research, and outreach initiatives, it aims to foster responsive governance, empowered communities, and sustainable development at local, regional, and national levels.
